Our Lady of Lourdes invites candidates into a deeper relationship with God and the Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation. After completing grades 1-8, which includes a two year initial Confirmation preparation program in Grades 7 & 8, students then move on to immediate Sacrament preparation that encompasses two monthly sessions, Mass attendance, a retreat, community service, choosing a sponsor and a Christian name, as well as individual prayer and reflection.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the final Sacrament of Initation, making our candidates full-fledged adult members of the Catholic Church. Confirmation is not a graduation from Faith Formation, but rather, a new beginning, in which, these young adults can participate fully in our faith community by offering their time and talents to the minitries of our parish family.
Confirmation takes place in the Spring, usually in May or June. Since the Bishop celebrates Confirmation, we coordinate with the Bishop's Office to get a date.
